I am moving to yet another city named after the French king, Louis IX. This time it is St. Louis, MO. I’ve been accepted to study at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) for a MA in Philosophy. I’ll probably also do some coursework at St. Louis University and also Concordia Seminary.
UMSL’s philosophy department focuses primarily on philosophy of science and metaphysics and is ranked in the top 10 MA programs in the English-speaking academic community by the The Philosophical Gourmet Report.
Somehow in the middle of all of this maybe I’ll learn something about Louis IX. (Hey, anyone who thinks of himself as the “lieutenant of God on Earth” is bound to do something that would grab my attention.)
I’m waiting to sell my house, so if anyone is looking for a great 3br, 2 1/2 bt home on the east end of Louisville please email!

Peter,
Thank you very much for your generosity. Perhaps I could contact you once I’m in St. Louis.
Woo-hoo!
sounds good, shoot me an email.

John, Congratulations! Sounds exciting. You’ll have to stay in touch and let me know how things are progressing. I think Philosophy is a great field of study in our current context. I’ll look forward to seeing God use this time of study to help you influence our culture and the Body of Christ. I’m definitely interested in staying in touch… and would enjoy the “round of cigars” if we can make it happen. Take care.
Just wanted to let you know, Louisville is named for Louis XVI.
Stu,
“Louisville is named for Louis XVI”
Not according to the wikipedia entry on “St. Louis” it isn’t.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis
What’s your source on that?
John,
I believe Stu is correct on that point. The wikipedia article on Louisville agrees.
The St. Louis article doesn’t mention Louisville at all now; probably it had an error in it that someone removed.
